Ten individuals found guilty of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A longstanding conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their complaint contends that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
